She and her new husband had scrimped and saved for their modest wedding. Just a week after the wedding, as they traveled on their first vacation together, Anika’s husband was killed by a drunk driver on Highway 26. Anika was devastated. The newly widowed mother of two was left without the funds to even pay for a funeral. A co-worker applied for the Friendship Fund at CMH on Anika’s behalf, and Anika received funds to honor her husband and grieve with family and friends. Taking care of our own CMH is committed to taking care of those who take care of you. Four years ago, the Friendship Fund was started at CMH to financially assist employees in emergency situations. Just in the last two months, the Friendship Fund has helped: ●   ● A mom with stage 4 cancer. ●   ● A kidney donor to save the life of a friend. ●   ● An employee whose husband is terminally ill. And 17 others have been helped this year alone. Because of enhanced awareness and fundraising at CMH this year, a record number of applicants have received support from the Friendship Fund. Every donation makes a significant difference for the CMH family—the folks who care for the health of our community.
