2 HEALTH COMPASS SPRING 2020 Delivering great care — and babies By Jarrod Karnofski, VP of Ancillary and Support Services From Columbia Memorial Hospital to you: Happy spring! In this issue of the Health Compass , you’ll find a wealth of information about having a baby at CMH. Since our beginnings as St. Mary’s Hospital in 1880, generations have been trusting CMH with their care — from birth to their golden years. Our Planetree philosophy helps us provide a warm and welcoming environment for families as they await their new arrivals. Year after year, our teams in the Family Birthing Center and Women’s Center deliver impressive stats (and babies). With 24/7 coverage by our OB-GYN providers, hundreds of infants are born in the Family Birthing Center annually. When they need a little extra help from our Lactation Program, our certified lactation consultants are available five days a week. With the current COVID-19 pandemic, we’re doing all we can to ensure a safe and healthy birth experience for all expectant families. Honoring all parents A new addition to our services is the Share Pregnancy & Infant Loss Support community facilitated by CMH Care Management. Share is a national organization that provides support and resources to anyone who has experienced perinatal loss, loss during pregnancy or an infant death up through one year of life. We know there are patients who have gone through this, and we want to make sure they are cared for, too. You and your children are in good hands at CMH. LOCAL SUPPORT, ONLINE ACCESS To keep moms, babies and families safe during the COVID-19 crisis, we’re offering free online Childbirth Education through May 31 (check online for updates).
